Senior Mechanical Analyst, Energy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Create, design, and validate models for structural and fluid dynamics pertaining to small modular reactors and nuclear fuel cycle facility initiatives.

• Conduct structural analysis along with steady-state and transient computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for both single- and multiphase flow.

• Confirm safety and performance criteria for small modular reactors.

• Assess CFD simulations and integrated fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analyses to evaluate the structural integrity of essential reactor systems.

• Mentor early-career engineers and provide guidance to engineers at various experience levels on CFD modeling and troubleshooting techniques.

• Prepare, review, and/or approve CFD and mechanical structural analysis calculations.

• Ensure that design outputs comply with applicable standards, regulations, customer-specific requirements, and nuclear quality assurance protocols.

• Generate documentation that is technically precise, grammatically correct, properly formatted, and professionally presented.

• Develop solutions to technical challenges and execute necessary change control processes.

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• A minimum of ten years of experience following graduation.

• Experience providing engineering support for the design, construction, or operation of nuclear facilities.

• Excellent communication skills in a complex, multi-tiered environment.

• Strong organizational abilities.

• Familiarity with essential NRC regulations, design codes, and standards applicable to commercial nuclear facilities.

• Proficient user of relevant design software, including ANSYS FLUENT/CFX and GOTHIC.

• Must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for consideration.

• Experience in design for Commercial and Department of Energy nuclear reactor projects is preferred.

• Experience in design for Commercial and Department of Energy nuclear fuel cycle facilities is preferred.

• Preferred experience with Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
