Senior Manager, Web Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the transformation of our website to be AI-enabled. Lead the development of grafana.com into an AI-first, agent-ready platform optimized for users, search engines, AI assistants, agents, and large language models (LLMs). Create practical AI-driven systems for content workflows, quality assurance, personalization, localization, analytics, experimentation, and web operations.

• Take ownership of the web platform. Guarantee that the marketing website remains stable, secure, high-performing, reliable, and easy to develop. Establish practical standards for reliability, incident management, operational transparency, platform health, performance, and security practices.

• Enhance predictability in delivery. Manage the operating system for web technology initiatives, which includes setting clear operating rhythms for roadmap assessments, stakeholder communications, prioritization, and accountability in delivery. Employ automation and AI-assisted workflows to minimize coordination burdens and enhance clarity.

• Create improved digital experiences. Collaborate with marketing, product, design, and engineering partners to facilitate a smoother transition from website visits to product trials and activations across various user intents and pathways.

• Scale self-service web operations. Simplify the site for internal teams to edit and manage by implementing robust CMS models, reusable design patterns, content and user experience guidelines, documentation, and governance.

• Lead and develop the web team. Provide direction with clarity, accountability, sound technical judgment, and open communication while assisting the team in balancing operational rigor with innovative thinking. Manage, mentor, and nurture a team of web developers by elevating technical standards, fostering AI-first development practices, clarifying ownership, and enabling each individual to enhance their impact and strategic contribution.

• You possess a strong perspective on how AI will influence web strategy, web operations, and digital user experiences, and you can translate that perspective into practical systems, workflows, experiments, and measurable advancements.

• You have robust technical judgment and can build trust with seasoned engineers while effectively communicating with marketing and executive stakeholders.

• You have experience in leading web engineering teams and constructing reliable, scalable, high-performing web platforms with strong operational discipline and predictable delivery.

• You are knowledgeable about modern frontend engineering, CMS-driven websites, analytics, integrations, performance, security, launch operations, and AI-enabled digital experiences.

• You can convert ambiguous business requirements into clear technical plans, priorities, timelines, trade-offs, and decisions.

• You maintain a strong operational mindset and enhance delivery through improved systems rather than relying on last-minute heroics.

• You are invested in team development and understand how to nurture engineers through mentorship, accountability, and meaningful ownership.

• You prioritize measurable impacts in areas such as reliability, content velocity, self-service adoption, discoverability, funnel performance, AI-enabled efficiency, and user engagement.

• Experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Storyblok, Vercel, Algolia, RudderStack, BigQuery, AirOps, and similar technologies.

• Experience utilizing AI to enhance engineering workflows, quality assurance, documentation, planning, analytics, experimentation, or operational reporting.

• Experience creating self-serve systems that empower marketing, content, events, and regional teams to operate more swiftly without sacrificing quality.

• Experience in developing AI-enabled web experiences, agent-ready content systems, personalization, chat interfaces, or LLM-optimized websites.
