• Oversee Enterprise Backup systems (Veritas-NetBackup, DELL-DPS, Azure backups), as well as Backup storage platforms (Data Domain, StoreOnce, Flex appliance) and Tape Library Technologies.
• Guarantee the protection of critical service data, ensuring rapid recovery and accessibility of both recent and historical data across primary, secondary, and remote site locations, while defining policies and agreements with service owners and conducting periodic reviews to ensure essential data is safeguarded.
• Serve as the primary provider of solutions, advice, and consultancy for complex Backup platform issues by analyzing situations, recommending solutions, and documenting them.
• Contribute to identifying opportunities for the continual enhancement of Backup systems, processes, and practices in line with international best practices.
• Manage Azure-native backup solutions, including AKS deployments and support tasks.
• Proactively oversee and monitor daily backup jobs, ensuring high success rates and prompt resolution of any failures.
• Ensure no backup failure remains unresolved for more than one day unless there is a compelling and valid reason.
• Confirm that all hardware and applications supported by backups are healthy and fully operational.
• Maintain redundant backup copies and ensure compliance with RPO standards.
• Conduct regular backup capacity planning, forecast growth, and optimize storage utilization to avert resource constraints.
• Lead incident management related to backups, including root cause analysis, remediation efforts, and preventive measures.
• Ensure that backup processes comply with regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements (SOC, ISO, internal audits), with thorough documentation and evidence readiness.
• Drive initiatives related to backups, including scoping, solution design, resource planning, and stakeholder engagement.
• Facilitate weekly governance meetings with backup vendors to monitor SLAs, evaluate performance, and promote continuous improvement.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of backup infrastructure, media, licenses, and contracts across various environments.
• Produce executive dashboards and regular operational reports detailing backup health, success rates, capacity trends, and risk indicators.
• Lead, mentor, and manage backup operations staff, ensuring skill development, accountability, and operational excellence.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with backup and recovery to enhance data protection, disaster recovery preparedness, and overall business resilience.
