Senior Manager, Software Engineering – Platform/Infra

📋 Description

• Recruit, oversee, and nurture a team of software engineers — taking responsibility for their performance, processes, priorities, and career aspirations.

• Propel the implementation of your team's quarterly objectives: decompose goals into distinct, measurable milestones and ensure timely delivery with high standards aimed at achieving business results.

• Maintain technical involvement — engage in design and code evaluations, contribute to architectural decisions, and assist engineers in making informed technical choices.

• Recognize and promote organizational enhancements through close collaboration with other Engineering Managers, Directors, and cross-functional partners.

• Collaborate with product, SRE, security, and domain engineering teams to establish platform agreements, mitigate delivery gaps, and synchronize on reliability, speed, and cost objectives.

• Communicate proficiently across engineering and R&D divisions — simplify technical complexities for non-technical audiences and advocate for your team's requirements to leadership.

• Develop and enhance the tools, infrastructure, or reliability systems your team manages — ensuring that observability, adoption, and impact are both visible and quantifiable.

• Take ownership of the toolchain, platform, or reliability strategy within your domain from local development to production, and clearly convey that strategy to the broader engineering community.

• Cultivate a culture of transparent communication, strong ownership, and ongoing improvement — where engineers feel committed to the team's success and are encouraged to take initiative.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6–8+ years of software engineering experience, including over 3 years leading small to medium-sized engineering teams responsible for development, platform tooling, or infrastructure.

• Demonstrated history of delivering high-quality software at scale — with a solid sense of ownership regarding team performance, processes, and long-term engineering objectives.

• Technical expertise in one or more areas: database reliability and distributed systems, CI/CD and build infrastructure, or internal developer platform tooling.

• Hands-on technical involvement — comfortable evaluating designs, reviewing code, and engaging in architectural discussions; this role is not solely coordinative.

• Strong understanding of public cloud platforms (Azure preferred), infrastructure tools (Kubernetes, Docker), and DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, version control, deployment systems).

• Experience with observability platforms (metrics, logs, tracing), performance engineering, or test automation frameworks is a significant advantage depending on team alignment.

• Exceptional cross-functional communication abilities — capable of aligning stakeholders, managing competing priorities, and translating technical subjects for non-technical audiences.

• Proficient in translating vague strategies into sequenced roadmaps, defined ownership, and quantifiable outcomes.

• B.S., M.S., or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
