Engineering Manager, Frontend Platform – Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Leading, managing, and expanding a high-performing team of frontend engineers concentrated on design systems, accessible component libraries, and frontend platform tooling.

• Owning the strategy and roadmap for Zocdoc's design system and accessible React component library, ensuring it serves as the preferred foundation for feature development across all product teams.

• Promoting accessibility across Zocdoc's web and mobile platforms by establishing planning, build, and QA processes to make accessible product development a consistent, measurable standard.

• Collaborating with UX, Product, and Engineering to create and enhance a scalable, accessible, mobile-responsive component library that operates seamlessly across web and native mobile platforms.

• Identifying and implementing platform enhancements that significantly accelerate frontend and mobile development throughout the engineering organization.

• Partnering with Product, UX, and Analytics to research and prioritize roadmaps while establishing a clear technical direction.

• Mentoring and coaching engineers at all levels to produce exceptional work in React.js and related frontend and mobile technologies.

• Utilizing cutting-edge GenAI tools and technologies to boost development velocity, enhance engineering workflows, and elevate the standards of what the team can deliver.

• Establishing technical strategy with a focus on scalability, developer experience, and ease of contribution across teams.

• Contributing to the Engineering Culture at Zocdoc by helping to shape career ladders, supporting cross-team events, conducting interviews, and fostering a more inclusive technology workforce.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and delivering software, with a strong foundation in frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, JavaScript) and proven experience in mobile development (iOS or Android).

• At least 2 years of experience in leading, developing, and motivating engineering teams.

• Experience in creating or significantly contributing to a design system or shared component library utilized across multiple product teams.

• A history of developing polished, well-tested, accessible consumer products for both web and mobile platforms.

• Ability to integrate generative AI tools into daily workflows to automate processes, encourage innovation, and optimize productivity.

• Excellent communication skills — keeping stakeholders aligned, managing competing priorities transparently, and building consensus among engineers at all levels.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong bias towards action.

• Humility; treating all individuals with dignity and respect, irrespective of title or tenure, and approaching difficult conversations with empathy.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
