This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Lead the design and implementation of software architecture.
• Oversee internal application development.
• Establish dependable and scalable platforms.
• Define, articulate, and execute strategies for web development.
• Provide hands-on management and tailored support to software engineers.
• Influence technology strategy and drive data initiatives within the department.
• Guide planning for data and systems architecture.
• Develop technical roadmaps and prioritize technical investments.
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Database Engineering and the Director of Solution Architecture.
• Partner with peer leaders across Product, Analytics, and Engineering.
• Advise on resource planning, personnel decisions, and team structures.
• Recruit and onboard new database engineers.
• Lead, coach, motivate, and develop software engineering teams.
• Clearly communicate expectations while providing training, resources, and information for success.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in architecting and supporting software system development.
• At least 3 years of required supervisory experience.
• Capability to facilitate architecture sessions with a diverse group of participants, including technical leaders and stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience in developing system models, UML diagrams, workflow diagrams, and detailed documentation to clarify architectural blueprints.
• Experience in identifying technology needs and gaps, along with potential solutions and alternatives.
• Proficiency in C#, .NET, MS SQL Server, and API development.
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
• Experience in orchestrating monitoring and alerting solutions for database systems.
• Ability to create an escalation process to prevent downtime and comply with SLAs.
• Familiarity with data best practices and processes related to data architecture.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Self-starter with high motivation and a passion for continuous learning, adaptation, evolution, and growth.
