Senior Manager, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Plan, direct, and oversee the delivery of software development initiatives of varying sizes and complexities.

• Provide leadership to the software engineering team in enhancing products and services as well as in production support.

• Manage software engineers across diverse technologies and solution domains.

• Oversee software design, development, and implementation processes.

• Supervise production support activities.

• Collaborate with Product Managers to ensure that features meet business requirements.

• Assess project proposals and business concepts for development efforts.

• Prioritize and allocate resources for projects and enhancements effectively.

• Diagnose and resolve production and customer support issues.

• Handle multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines efficiently.

• Exercise independent judgment in decision-making.

• Support continuous professional development plans for software engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

• At least 1 additional year of experience pertaining to the functional area.

• A minimum of 3 years of management experience including hiring, training, assigning work, and overseeing direct reports.

• Experience in software development using Java, web services, system integrations, and relational database platforms.

• Proven experience in implementing significant systems and process changes.

• Capability to partner with other managers to achieve objectives.

• Ability to prioritize projects based on measurable business benefits and available resources.

• Proficient in managing multiple simultaneous tasks, problems, and projects.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• For remote or hybrid roles, demonstrate high engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings.

• Preferred: full-stack development experience with .NET/C#/Java.

• Preferred: experience in leading technology modernization, platform improvements, or engineering process transformations.

• Preferred: familiarity with AI-assisted software development practices.

• Preferred: understanding of API-first design, system integrations, cloud delivery, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and production reliability.

• Preferred: ability to use data, engineering metrics, customer impact, and business value for prioritizing and making resource decisions.

• Preferred: partnership experience with Product Management, UX, Operations, and business stakeholders.

• Preferred: ability to articulate technical and business problems, evaluate options, communicate trade-offs, and recommend solutions.

• Preferred: experience in developing engineering talent and building effective teams.

• Preferred: strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills.

• Preferred: experience in healthcare technology, sensitive data environments, HIPAA/PCI considerations, HL7, or FHIR.
