This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.
• Lead the design, development, and execution of essential software platforms for a pet insurance provider.
• Direct solution design, architectural choices, technical problem resolution, code and design reviews, as well as production incident management.
• Manage and enhance customer portals, partner portals, marketing and purchasing websites, partner APIs, and mobile applications.
• Mentor and guide software developers and senior engineers while maintaining a hands-on technical presence.
• Establish technical and delivery expectations while ensuring engineering quality, accountability, and ownership.
• Act as the escalation point for technical obstacles, delivery risks, and production challenges.
• Guarantee that platforms are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with the needs of the insurance business.
• Propel modernization initiatives while addressing technical debt and ensuring platform stability.
• Supervise and enhance CI/CD pipelines utilizing Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines.
• Advocate for automation, testing strategies, deployment consistency, and effective environment management.
• Define, document, and uphold coding, testing, cloud, security, and DevOps standards.
• Collaborate with Product, Policy, Claims, and Operations teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions.
• Engage in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and execution of delivery using ADO.
• Convey technical trade-offs, risks, and timelines to both business and technology leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure cloud development.
• Significant hands-on experience with .NET MVC / C# development.
• 10–15 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• 4–7 years of experience in leading software development teams while remaining technically engaged.
• Strong expertise with Azure DevOps, encompassing CI/CD pipeline design and management.
• Proven background in Agile environments utilizing ADO.
• Solid proficiency in SQL Server, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Direct experience in supporting insurance platforms, especially in policy administration or claims systems.
• Experience in directing front-end development for web and mobile applications.
• Familiarity with Oracle DB is advantageous.
• Background in cloud modernization or refactoring legacy systems.
• Knowledge of security, compliance, and governance in regulated settings.
• Experience leading by example in organizations moving towards improved engineering standards.
