This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and spearhead the procurement and vendor management strategy for designated functional areas, ensuring alignment with CM’s organizational goals, provincial program requirements, and MSA client obligations.
• Provide high-level oversight of procurement governance, policies, standards, and controls, ensuring uniform application across corporate initiatives, provincial programs, and client collaborations.
• Evaluate existing procurement and vendor management processes, pinpointing opportunities to streamline workflows, mitigate risk, enhance transparency, and strengthen scalability as CM’s operations progress.
• Cultivate subject matter expertise on regulatory requirements linked to waste diversion regulations across Canadian provinces and translate these requirements into actionable procurement and contract management strategies.
• Acquire a comprehensive understanding of current contracts maintained by CM across provincial programs and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards concerning contract, procurement, and risk management.
• Lead the request and intake process for procurement inquiries across CM and MSA clients, establishing clear prioritization, service standards, and decision-making criteria.
• Manage and oversee the enterprise schedule of procurement activities across provincial programs, corporate initiatives, and MSA clients, proactively identifying risks related to resources, timing, and stakeholders.
• Direct, oversee, and manage intricate procurement activities, including the creation, release, evaluation, and awarding of RFx processes such as RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
• Implement, supervise, and ensure compliance with CM’s Procurement & Vendor Management policy, suggesting updates as business needs, regulatory requirements, and best practices evolve.
• Lead, oversee, and facilitate, in partnership with internal stakeholders, the complete lifecycle of sourcing and procurement projects from planning, drafting, and negotiations through execution, implementation, renewals, and close-out.
• Establish contract management practices to monitor executed contract terms, renewal dates, performance obligations, annual action items, risks, and opportunities for value enhancement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by tracking procurement performance, identifying inefficiencies or challenges, and implementing process enhancements that elevate quality, cycle time, compliance, and stakeholder experience.
• Develop, implement, and report on procurement KPIs, metrics, and trends, offering insights and recommendations to senior leadership to aid decision-making and functional planning.
• Mentor and coach procurement team members using best-in-class management practices, fostering capability, accountability, and a culture of collaboration, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, legal administration, paralegal studies, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, contract management, or vendor management, including leading complex RFx processes, formulating procurement strategies, enhancing business processes, and advising senior stakeholders.
• Familiarity with the waste management, recycling, or extended producer responsibility sectors is a significant advantage.
• Advanced understanding of procurement strategy, sourcing, contracting, negotiation, supplier relationship management, vendor performance management, and procurement governance.
• Proven ability to evaluate business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement scalable, practical solutions within a growing organization.
• Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the capacity to align functional priorities with broader organizational objectives.
• Robust risk management mindset, including the ability to identify contractual, supplier, operational, and compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Communication: excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, advise, and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Project management: capacity to plan, prioritize, delegate, monitor progress, and deliver complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and competing timelines.
• People leadership: experience leading, coaching, and developing team members while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, including the ability to leverage data, KPIs, and trend reporting to formulate recommendations.
• Ability to perform successfully in an entrepreneurial environment that necessitates both strategic thinking and decisive action.
• All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a home office environment.
• On-site work in the Toronto office will be required on a case-by-case basis.
