This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee operations and delivery coordination: Lead the weekly synchronization of resources and alignments across various projects — ensuring deployment aligns with project demands, managing capacity challenges, and confirming that no engagement is under-resourced.
• Maintain a real-time overview of utilization across all ongoing engagements; proactively detect over-allocation, burnout risks, or skill mismatches and address them before they impact delivery.
• Establish and uphold the operational rhythms of the practice: team meetings, delivery check-ins, onboarding processes, and coordination mechanisms across pillars.
• Elevate delivery risks that necessitate leadership intervention; convert team insights into clear, actionable signals for executives, ensuring no critical information is filtered out.
• Provide project teams with the necessary tools, templates, methodologies, and standards to ensure consistent delivery across various engagement types and client environments.
• Capability Development: Collaborate with project teams to define and uphold the practice's methodology: discovery frameworks, requirements standards, stakeholder engagement strategies, and benchmarks for deliverable quality.
• Develop a learning and development calendar tailored to the team's genuine engagement needs — avoiding generic training — and facilitating cross-pillar exposure across all pillars.
• Create and sustain a competency framework that sets clear and credible criteria for performance assessment and career advancement, acknowledging that most team members are already highly skilled.
• Drive/support the creation of BIS delivery playbooks, templates, and standards for discovery, change management, testing, cutover, and post-implementation support.
• Identify engagement patterns where capability gaps emerge and systematically address them through targeted development rather than reactive measures.
• People Leadership & Team Development: Guide structured onboarding for new hires, ensuring their integration into the practice culture and readiness for delivery within 60-90 days.
• Act as a direct people manager for a reporting team comprising senior business analysts skilled in process, data, business/technical requirements, and systems/product implementation.
• Conduct quarterly coaching roundtables with cross-pillar coaches to consolidate team development insights and translate them into management actions.
• Retain and nurture a team of seasoned senior practitioners—recognizing the distinction between craft acknowledgment and career advancement for high-expertise individual contributors.
• Practice Strategy & Governance: Assist in capacity planning by collaborating with leadership to forecast capacity needs against pipeline and growth objectives.
• Collaborate with leadership on designing the coaching model, cross-pillar development initiatives, and any structural changes as the practice expands.
• Maintain documentation of the operating model: organizational structure, role definitions, operating norms, and governance processes that align with team structure on implementation projects.
• Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance: Advocate for continuous improvement through lessons learned, feedback mechanisms, and project retrospectives.
• Ensure project deliverables meet established quality benchmarks, perform quality audits and reviews, and implement processes for quality enhancement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• An advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in technology consulting, professional services, or a related field, with proven experience in leading or managing teams of senior practitioners.
• Demonstrated success as a people manager — adept at conducting performance reviews, navigating difficult conversations, managing retention risks, and fostering career development for experienced individual contributors.
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies in SaaS companies or with system integrators.
• Strong understanding of the four pillars as a discipline: recognizing what excellent discovery entails and how requirements evolve through an engagement.
• Experience overseeing resource deployment and capacity planning within a project-based or consulting atmosphere.
• Proven ability to build trust with seasoned peers and direct reports who possess strong professional identities and do not respond well to directive management approaches.
• Comfort in a high-growth, structurally evolving environment where processes are being developed concurrently with ongoing delivery.
• Strong grasp of utility operations, asset management, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven experience in team building and leadership, with the ability to motivate and develop talent.
• Excellent project management capabilities, including expertise in project planning, execution, and risk management.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to effectively engage clients and stakeholders at all levels.
• Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally as required.
• Previous experience in practice operations, delivery management, or capability development within a consulting firm or technology services organization.
• Familiarity with the cross-functional dynamics between PMO, BA, solution architecture, and engineering in integrated delivery engagements.
• Experience with coaching models, structured mentoring programs, or formal learning and development initiatives in a consulting context.
• Exposure to Big 4 or top-tier consulting operating models — particularly how those firms distinguish craft leadership from people management at scale.
• Experience hiring and onboarding senior practitioners within a compressed timeframe.
• Certifications: PMP/PMI-ACP, Prosci/Change Management, ITIL, SAFe/Agile, or relevant certifications.
