Senior Manager, Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Lead the Platform Developer Enablement and Site Reliability Engineering teams located in Ireland.

• Define the platform roadmap and ensure alignment of technical investments with business objectives.

• Advocate for DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.

• Supervise the design and operation of scalable, resilient, and secure platforms.

• Establish and uphold rigorous service-level objectives, including an internal SLO of 99.999%.

• Implement advanced observability, monitoring, and logging frameworks using OpenTelemetry.

• Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering managers and technical talent.

• Collaborate with product management, security, and engineering leaders to convert business needs into platform capabilities.

• Communicate technical risks and architectural trade-offs to both technical and non-technical leadership.

• Establish incident management processes and provide training for Incident Commanders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Over 5 years of senior-level experience as a Software Engineer, SRE, and/or Platform Engineer.

• More than 5 years of management experience, demonstrating success in leading and coaching other managers.

• Extensive experience in running SaaS products within cloud environments (AWS preferred).

• Strong technical expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitOps, ArgoCD).

• Proficiency in programming languages (Go, Java, or similar) for providing technical guidance and performing code reviews.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems design and architecture patterns.

• Advanced understanding of observability practices, particularly OpenTelemetry.

• Familiarity with database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB) and data streaming/processing (Kafka, Redis).

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of bridging the divide between technical execution and business strategy.
