This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead, build, and mentor two high-achieving engineering teams focused on clustering infrastructure and exposure data systems.
• Drive the technical vision and strategic roadmap across both areas, balancing reliability, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and rapid iteration.
• Take ownership of re-architecting exposure systems for real-time fund tracing, addressing threats from nation-state actors and darknet markets.
• Advance the next-generation clustering platform, ensuring Chainalysis remains at the forefront of an evolving blockchain environment.
• Collaborate with data producers, consumers, and product stakeholders to provide an exceptional developer and data science experience.
• Implement engineering processes, tools, and best practices that enhance the productivity of your teams and the wider organization.
• Engage directly in complex challenges when necessary, including architecture decisions, incident management, or helping to remove obstacles for the team.
• Promote a culture of quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement across critical data systems.
• Proficient in hands-on software and data engineering skills - comfortable reviewing code, drafting design documents, debugging production systems, and making architectural decisions alongside your team.
• Extensive experience with large-scale data processing and distributed systems (e.g., Spark, Flink, Databricks, Airflow, or comparable). You can assess trade-offs, rather than just pass them on.
• Proven history of leading multiple high-performing engineering teams while remaining close enough to the technical specifics to unblock, challenge, and elevate the output.
• A strong interest and motivation to guide teams in adapting to and excelling in an AI-first environment.
• Experience managing across various problem domains concurrently, with the capability to switch contexts between strategic planning and direct technical contributions.
• A collaborative leadership approach rooted in technical credibility - your team values your judgment because you have shared the challenges with them.
• Enthusiasm for tackling large-scale graph, clustering, and real-time data tracing challenges, along with a genuine commitment to owning mission-critical infrastructure.
• Strong emphasis on system reliability, data integrity, and cost-effective engineering at scale.
• Interest in blockchain and cryptocurrencies (or a willingness to learn - we will support you).
• Competitive salary
• Flexible working hours
• Professional development budget
• Home office setup allowance
• Global team events
