Engineering Manager, Maps & Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand the Maps & Search team.

• Remain actively involved in code and design evaluations.

• Take ownership of and enhance a high-throughput search platform.

• Provide an exceptional home search experience.

• Advance AI-driven discovery initiatives.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to shape the project roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant senior or staff-level roles, alongside at least 2 years in a management position for engineering teams.

• Experience in search technologies, including relevance, ranking, or retrieval systems.

• Extensive knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, and React.

• Proven ability to design and manage scalable microservice architectures in cloud-native settings (AWS preferred).

• A solid grasp of GraphQL, event-driven systems (such as Kafka), and databases (including PostgreSQL and OpenSearch).

• A demonstrated history of operating high-traffic, low-latency production systems at scale.

• Experience leading significant initiatives from concept to production within a SaaS environment.
