Senior Manager Engineering – Akamai Cloud Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Leading the strategic direction and roadmap for Akamai Compute's customer-facing API as well as internal backend orchestration and support services.

• Facilitating an architectural transformation of services towards container orchestration and modular designs, which promotes horizontal scalability and individual component ownership.

• Implementing systems to audit software lifecycles, thereby enhancing service reliability, improving observability, and ensuring robust security for Akamai Compute.

• Collaborating with Product Management, SRE, Engineering leaders, SDET, and various product teams to define requirements, integrate new features, and foster consistent, user-friendly experiences.

• Cultivating a growth-oriented, inclusive, and respectful work culture. Mentoring Senior and Principal engineers, promoting technical leadership, and encouraging knowledge sharing throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10 years of relevant experience in the field.

• A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.

• Experience in managing high-performing engineering teams in a cloud-engineering and web services context.

• Proficient in architectural design, particularly within distributed systems, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and backend service integration.

• Experience with large-scale migrations, such as transitioning services to containerized orchestration or modularizing legacy systems to meet business needs.

• Expertise in ensuring security, performance, and reliability in mission-critical environments.

• Strong ability to communicate openly and respectfully.
