Senior Manager – Application Development Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Spearhead a strategic modernization initiative within the Investment Management technology division.

• Transition a legacy on-premises SQL Server-based Investment Management Data Warehouse into a scalable, governed, cloud-native data and analytics platform utilizing Google Cloud Platform.

• Drive the execution of the migration strategy.

• Revamp data pipelines and enhance reporting capabilities.

• Facilitate governed analytics via Looker.

• Support AI-driven data access and productivity solutions using Vertex AI.

• Oversee execution at the convergence of cloud data engineering, analytics modernization, AI enablement, and business transformation.

• Manage technical teams, nurture engineering talent, and lead delivery across intricate, multi-stakeholder programs.

• Convert business priorities into actionable technology plans.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, platform engineering, cloud data architecture, or similar technology leadership roles.

• Strong practical or leadership experience with Google Cloud Platform, encompassing BigQuery architecture, data modeling, performance tuning, cost optimization, and security.

• Proven experience in leading large-scale data warehouse modernization or cloud migration initiatives, preferably from SQL Server, Oracle, or other on-premises enterprise data warehouse platforms.

• Comprehensive understanding of cloud data warehouses, data lakes, medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, semantic layers, ELT/ETL, metadata management, lineage, and data governance.

• Solid programming foundation in Python.

• Experience in supporting data engineering, automation, analytics, APIs, or AI/ML workflows.

• Background in managing technical teams, developing engineering talent, and leading delivery across complex, multi-stakeholder programs.

• Strong grasp of cloud security, access controls, data privacy, audit requirements, production support, and operational resilience.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to senior business stakeholders and translate business priorities into actionable technology plans.

• Hands-on or leadership experience with Vertex AI, AI/ML platforms, intelligent agents, natural language data access, or AI-enabled analytics solutions.

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.

• Preferred: experience in investment management, asset management, insurance, capital markets, financial services, or risk analytics.

• Preferred: experience modernizing investment data platforms, portfolio analytics systems, market data platforms, research data environments, or finance reporting ecosystems.

• Familiarity with ASP.NET or legacy web-based reporting applications.

• Familiarity with Oracle SQR or similar legacy batch reporting and data processing technologies.

• Experience integrating third-party financial data providers such as Bloomberg, State Street, Moody’s, S&P, or Fitch.

• Experience creating AI-driven data access patterns, including semantic layers, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation, governed natural language queries, and agent-based workflows.

• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, DevOps/DataOps, automated testing, data quality frameworks, and production observability.

• Experience operating within a regulated enterprise environment with formal architecture, security, privacy, and governance processes.
