This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee and manage Mainframe CICS for z/OS and MQ for z/OS subsystems across various SYSPLEX and CEC environments.
• Provide technical direction and support to outsourced service providers and internal team members.
• Ensure that service delivery meets contractual obligations, SLAs, and KPIs.
• Assess, prototype, and implement new mainframe technologies, capabilities, and operational strategies.
• Create and maintain mainframe roadmaps, standards, processes, and best practices.
• Develop and execute strategies for CICS, Db2, and MQ environments that align with business and technology goals.
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders on growth forecasts, business requirements, infrastructure, and capacity planning.
• Lead systems analysis, architecture, integration, enhancement, and deployment for enterprise mainframe projects.
• Evaluate hardware, software, tools, and implementation methods for cost-effective solutions.
• Create, maintain, and manage technical documentation and engineering specifications.
• Offer thought leadership on mainframe technologies, industry trends, and operational practices.
• Ensure adherence to software licensing, hardware and software lifecycle management, and technology portfolio roadmaps.
• Analyze incident, problem, and change management data to uncover trends and drive root-cause resolution.
• Lead and support audit, compliance, and risk management efforts related to the mainframe platform.
• Participate in disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency planning initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting IBM Mainframe hardware platforms, including z15 and z16 systems.
• Familiarity with enterprise storage and backup technologies, such as IBM DS8910 Storage Systems and TS7770/TS7780 Virtual Tape Systems.
• Must be eligible to work in the US without the need for sponsorship now or in the future (i.e., Lawful Permanent Residence or US Citizen).
• Understanding of distributed technology integration, including Tomcat and related middleware platforms.
• Experience in systems architecture, platform design, and enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
• Proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives and influencing outcomes across teams.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to learn and apply new technologies swiftly.
• Excellent skills in collaboration, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Commitment to leveraging diverse perspectives and fostering an inclusive team environment.
• Experience in budget planning and financial management is a plus.
• Experience in managing vendor relationships and outsourced service providers is an additional advantage.
• Prior experience in highly regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, healthcare, or similar sectors.
• Extensive knowledge of z/OS system software and infrastructure technologies, including z/OS, RACF, SYSPLEX, SMP/E, JES, SDSF, TSO, WLM, HMC, IODF, Db2, CICS, IBM MQ, HSM, RMF, SMF, and SCRT.
• Familiarity with mainframe automation, monitoring, and scheduling tools, including OMEGAMON, OPC/Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Endevor, and IBM Db2 Tools.
• Knowledge of software licensing and capacity management concepts, including ELA, CBU, CoD, MSU, MIPS, and VU-based licensing models.
• Remote work arrangement may be available.
