Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Ranking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Enhance current machine learning ranking models using fundamental coding expertise and machine learning knowledge.

• Take full responsibility for machine learning systems, which includes data pipelines, candidate extraction, feature engineering, model training, and integration into production.

• Discover new opportunities to implement machine learning across various areas of the Quora platform.

• Collaborate with fellow machine learning engineers to execute algorithms and systems effectively.

• Manage and progress the second-phase ranking model that supports feed and digest functionalities.

• Create methodologies that other developers can build upon.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be available for meetings and spontaneous communication during Quora's “coordination hours” (Monday to Friday: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).

• At least 3 years of professional experience in developing recommendation or ranking models.

• Solid understanding of the mathematical principles underlying machine learning algorithms.

• Prior experience in constructing end-to-end machine learning systems.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Preferred: Over 5 years of experience programming in Python or C++.

• Preferred: Experience with generative recommendation systems.

• Preferred: Knowledge of user behavior or user sequence modeling, including transformers or long sequence modeling related to ranking.

• Preferred: Experience in leading large-scale projects involving multiple engineers.

• Final candidates will be required to undergo identity verification and a thorough background check before onboarding.
