Senior Machine Learning Engineer – CCC Casualty, Claims Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of models and evaluations from start to finish within a specific problem area, transforming results into actionable product decisions.

• Develop AI-driven products for CCC's auto casualty sector, concentrating on the injury aspect of auto claims.

• Create and deploy statistical, machine learning, and hybrid large language models, including retrieval and embeddings, utilizing real claims data.

• Design evaluations and gold standard datasets in collaboration with data labelers and subject matter experts, consistently running them as the product evolves.

• Assess impact through experiment design, establishing baselines, and conducting ROI analysis.

• Clearly communicate results to product teams, sales, and customers.

• Perform an evaluation on actual data within the first month.

• Deliver a model or evaluation to production within six months while facilitating evidence-based product decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 5+ years of experience in the fields of machine learning, data science, or quantitative engineering roles.

• A solid quantitative background (statistics, probability, experiment design) obtained through a degree, research, or equivalent experience.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL, accompanied by a proven track record of deploying models to production and evaluating their performance.

• Practical experience with both statistical machine learning and large language model approaches (RAG, embeddings, vector search), including the assessment of LLM outputs.

• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with AI-assisted tools, along with examples to discuss.

• Experience in causal inference, survival analysis, or calibration methods applied to business decision-making.

• Proficiency in fine-tuning models for domain-specific tasks.

• A video interview is mandatory for this position.
