Lead Bioinformatics, Machine Learning Scientist – Epigenomics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead technical workstreams from identifying problems to delivering final classifiers for validation teams.

• Create, implement, and validate innovative machine learning and statistical methodologies for cancer diagnostics.

• Develop best practices in model interpretability, uncertainty estimation, and reproducibility.

• Design pipelines for feature engineering and extraction of cfDNA methylation and sequencing data.

• Work collaboratively with molecular biologists on experimental design, ensuring data integrity and quality control.

• Mentor scientists while promoting innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence.

• Conduct and participate in code and design reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a relevant quantitative discipline.

• 4 to 8+ years of experience post-PhD.

• Practical experience in cancer genomics or epigenomics.

• Strong grounding in quantitative reasoning, statistical analysis, and applied machine learning.

• Demonstrated success in developing computational methods for high-throughput sequencing data analysis.

• Proficient programming skills with practical experience in Python and its scientific libraries: pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn.

• Familiarity with Linux command-line tools, shell scripting, Git, and workflow managers like Nextflow or Snakemake, as well as cloud or HPC computing environments.

• Ability to conduct hypothesis-driven research, visualize results, and effectively summarize findings both orally and in writing.

• Experience in mentoring or providing technical leadership to other scientists.
