Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Casualty, Claims Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of models and evaluations from start to finish within a specific problem area, translating results into product decisions.

• Develop and deploy statistical, machine learning, and hybrid LLM models, including retrieval and embeddings, utilizing actual claims data.

• Collaborate with data labelers and subject matter experts to design evaluations and create gold datasets.

• Conduct continuous evaluations as the product evolves.

• Assess impact through experimental design, establishing baselines, and performing ROI analysis.

• Clearly articulate results to product teams, sales, and customers.

• Create AI-driven products for auto casualty and injury claims, covering areas such as medical bills, claims decision support, and the Agentic Rules Platform.

• Deliver models or evaluations for production deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 5+ years of experience in machine learning, data science, or quantitative engineering roles.

• A solid quantitative background (statistics, probability, experimental design) gained through a degree, research, or equivalent experience.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Proven history of deploying models to production and assessing their performance.

• Practical experience with statistical ML and LLM-based methodologies (RAG, embeddings, vector search), including evaluating LLM outputs.

• Genuine experience utilizing AI-assisted tools to enhance efficiency, with examples to share.

• Video interview is mandatory.

• Candidates are prohibited from using generative AI or automated assistance during interviews unless explicitly permitted.

• Preferred: experience in causal inference, survival analysis, or calibration methods applied to business decisions.

• Preferred: expertise in fine-tuning models for domain-specific tasks.
