Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Relevance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee significant and influential projects that concentrate on comprehensive ranking algorithms and ecosystems aimed at optimizing various business objectives.

• Create and consistently enhance state-of-the-art Machine Learning models utilizing extensive structured and unstructured datasets.

• Partner with software engineers, product managers, operations teams, and data scientists to uncover business-impact opportunities and fine-tune model requirements.

• Influence engineering decisions and assess impact quantitatively.

• Develop, deploy, and manage Machine Learning models and pipelines at scale for both batch and real-time applications.

• Utilize third-party and internal Machine Learning tools and infrastructure to construct reusable, high-efficiency systems.

• Facilitate rapid model development, low-latency serving, and simplified model-quality maintenance.

• Engage in projects related to feature platforms, model interpretability, hyperparameter optimization, and concept drift detection.

• Work collaboratively with teams across Airbnb to devise ranking solutions that promote a healthy marketplace for hosts and guests.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning, along with an MS or PhD in relevant disciplines.

• Strong programming and data engineering expertise in Scala, Python, Java, C++, or similar languages.

• Profound knowledge of Machine Learning best practices, encompassing training/serving skew minimization, A/B testing, feature engineering, and feature/model selection.

• Familiarity with neural networks/deep learning and optimization techniques.

• Understanding of natural language processing, computer vision, personalization, search and recommendation, marketplace optimization, or anomaly detection.

• Experience with three or more of the following: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, Spark, Airflow, or similar technologies, as well as Kafka or equivalent, and data warehouses like Hive.

• Industry experience in developing end-to-end Machine Learning infrastructure and/or in building and operationalizing Machine Learning models.

• Exposure to the architectural patterns of large-scale software applications, which include well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, and efficient algorithms/models.

• Experience in test-driven development, A/B testing, incremental delivery, and deployment processes.

• Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
