This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan, +1 more state.
• Design and implement deep learning models for camera-based perception, which encompasses object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, and understanding of scenes.
• Manage the complete model development lifecycle from data collection and training to assessment and deployment.
• Craft high-quality ML code suitable for scalable training, evaluation, and inference workflows.
• Evaluate model performance across varied driving conditions, pinpoint failure modes, and enhance robustness and generalization.
• Participate in expansive training pipelines, involving dataset preparation, distributed training, and tracking of experiments.
• Collaborate with data teams to enhance dataset quality, labeling methodologies, and coverage of edge cases.
• Work alongside perception, simulation, and validation teams to assess and incorporate models into the autonomy stack.
• Enhance tools, processes, and infrastructure to expedite experimentation and model iterations.
• Engage in model architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers regarding implementation, debugging, and best practices.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related technical discipline with over 6 years of industry experience, OR a Master’s degree with at least 3 years, OR a PhD with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Proven experience in developing and deploying deep learning models for computer vision or perception systems.
• Proficient programming skills in Python and PyTorch, including experience in creating production-quality ML code.
• Familiarity with training and evaluating models using large-scale datasets and distributed computing environments.
• Strong grasp of contemporary deep learning architectures utilized in perception, such as CNNs, transformers, and multi-task models.
• Experience in troubleshooting model behavior, analyzing performance metrics, and enhancing model reliability.
• Capability to convert ambiguous challenges into structured ML solutions and work independently.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration to integrate ML models within broader autonomy or robotics systems.
• Bonus: Background in autonomous driving, robotics, or simulation-based ML systems.
• Bonus: Experience with multi-task learning or unified perception architectures.
• Bonus: Familiarity with large-scale data pipelines, distributed training systems such as Ray, or experiment management frameworks.
• Bonus: Knowledge of camera calibration, geometric reasoning, or 3D perception from images, including BEV, monocular depth, and structure-from-motion.
