This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, construct, and deliver production-ready AI capabilities, services, and applications that address customer and business challenges.
• Develop scalable APIs, microservices, data integrations, and backend systems to support AI-driven products and workflows.
• Enhance AI infrastructure, including evaluation frameworks, deployment pipelines, monitoring, observability, and automated testing.
• Prototype and assess emerging AI technologies, such as LLMs and agentic workflows.
• Convert successful AI prototypes into dependable, enterprise-level solutions.
• Collaborate across cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and application layers to embed AI capabilities within Q2’s technology ecosystem.
• Partner with product, engineering, data, and platform teams to define solutions and navigate technical trade-offs.
• Advance ideas from initial exploration through to production.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in software/ML/AI engineering, with significant production ownership.
• Strong grounding in software engineering principles and a proven history of designing, building, deploying, and maintaining production systems.
• Proficient in Python; experience with C#, Java, TypeScript, etc., is advantageous.
• Familiarity with building APIs, backend services, microservices, data integrations, or distributed systems.
• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and production deployment.
• Valuable experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and MLOps.
• Proven experience in building or operating ML/AI systems in production, including evaluation, monitoring, observability, and deployment pipelines.
• Exposure to LLM applications, RAG, agentic workflows, model/tool integration, or similar contemporary AI patterns.
• Capability and willingness to work across AI, backend, infrastructure, data, and occasionally UI/application code.
• Strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and comfort in an environment where patterns and solutions are still under development.
• Fluent in written and spoken English communication.
