Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Replace manually written biomechanical exercise guidelines with a model that assesses movement quality directly from keypoints.

• Create a scalable, generalized model capable of supporting hundreds of exercises and various fault categories.

• Tackle challenges related to noisy keypoints, occlusion, dropped frames, and low-latency processing for Android and iOS edge devices.

• Partner with physiotherapists and doctors to establish clinically accurate execution and translate clinical judgement into learnable data and reliable evaluations.

• Identify, extract, and process pertinent data sources.

• Develop the strategy for annotation.

• Investigate new methodologies and transform them into practical solutions.

• Design and implement deep learning pipelines focused on computer vision, encompassing data management, training, evaluation, and deployment.

• Establish tests and evaluations to measure both model and production performance.

• Assist in optimizing body and hand tracking models as part of a three-member data science team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in building, optimizing, and deploying Deep Learning/Computer Vision models to production with complete ownership.

• Background in developing models based on time-series signals for action quality/error evaluation in related domains such as assembly-step monitoring, surgical skill assessment, or ergonomics scoring from video.

• Practical knowledge in applying transfer or few-shot learning to extend model predictions to previously unseen motion or fault categories.

• Experience with model compression, quantization, and pruning for edge or resource-limited devices.

• Strong proficiency in Python engineering.

• In-depth expertise in PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Adherence to clean code practices, modular architecture, and testing standards.

• A background in biomechanics or physiotherapy is a plus.

• Experience in training pose estimation or hand tracking models from the ground up is beneficial.

• Familiarity with a medical or otherwise regulated environment is advantageous.
