Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design and implement comprehensive machine learning models, including binary classification and regression, aimed at detecting and preventing financial crimes during transaction processing and client onboarding.

• Collect requirements, create prototypes, and deploy models in a production environment.

• Take ownership and enhance the Dynamic Risk Score (DRS) across various markets.

• Evaluate the entire client base on a daily basis and assist in decision-making throughout the client lifecycle.

• Oversee transaction rules using machine learning-driven detection and optimize the performance and quantity of alerts.

• Set up continuous monitoring for the performance of models and rules in production.

• Create a champion-challenger framework to ensure the best-performing model remains active.

• Engage in the development of infrastructure for the operationalization of machine learning models and interactions between services.

• Deploy, manage, monitor, and enhance production machine learning systems as part of a small team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Full-stack Data Scientist.

• Experience in production deployment, including working with API services like FastAPI.

• Proficient in SQL and Python programming languages.

• Familiarity with cloud data platforms, such as Databricks.

• Strong architectural skills, including the ability to design and improve infrastructure that serves models of varying complexity.

• Experience with model monitoring and champion-challenger or A-B testing in a production setting.

• A quantitative educational background in fields such as mathematics, engineering, economics, or computer science.

• Full working proficiency in English.

• Experience with graph modeling or foundational models/embeddings is advantageous.

• Ability to work independently and be results-oriented with minimal supervision in a start-up environment.
