Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the entire ML lifecycle: Manage projects from ideation through to production, which includes feature engineering, model selection, deployment, and model observability and evaluation.

• Convert business requirements into ML solutions: Collect product specifications and translate them into comprehensive ML system design requirements.

• Develop recommendation and ranking systems: Design and implement ranking and recommendation infrastructure from the ground up, initially utilizing integrated off-the-shelf models, and progressing towards targeted and customized solutions over time.

• Tackle complex challenges: Engage with a range of issues related to information extraction, storage, and retrieval for both structured and unstructured data.

• Collaborate across functions: Work alongside cross-functional teams (including product, infrastructure, data engineering, and software engineering) to create robust, high-scale systems that support all our data processing and ML operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering and/or machine learning, particularly in applying machine learning in production environments.

• Practical experience in developing ranking or recommendation systems from the ground up, deployed at scale using techniques such as learn-to-rank and explainable recommendations.

• Strong knowledge of machine learning methodologies, including clustering and decision trees.

• Experience in serving ML models for both streaming and batch inference at scale.

• Familiarity with vector or graph databases.

• Proficient in Python and contemporary ML frameworks (such as PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or similar).

• Proven history of building maintainable, testable, and production-ready codebases.

• Experience with observability tools for both online and offline model assessment, A/B testing, and tracing for AI applications.
