Senior Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Offer legal guidance and support for both existing business models (websites and applications) and new initiatives.

• Oversee legal and compliance issues to achieve commercial goals while minimizing risks.

• Ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations. Draft and review NDAs, contracts, legal documents, and other materials to facilitate business growth and expansion.

• Demonstrable experience in creating and implementing compliance and ethics frameworks, including internal reporting channels (whistleblowing), codes of conduct, and training programs, with the capability to advise, supervise, and review these processes within the organization.

• Collaborate with the Security team to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations (GDPR, LSSI, LOPGDDD, RIA).

• Spearhead the development and enforcement of internal compliance policies, risk assessments, and ethics guidelines in line with regulatory standards.

• Assist in the trademark registration process for various company projects and ensure compliance with Intellectual Property laws while defending the company's rights.

• Provide appropriate responses to inquiries from regulatory authorities and/or third parties regarding the company's operations across different market sectors.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Law with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm.

• Strong expertise in compliance, ethics, and data protection (GDPR, LOPGDDD, RIA/AI Act), along with additional knowledge in digital business, intellectual property, and software contracting.

• Proven experience in managing regulatory inspections, audits, or interactions with data protection authorities (AEPD or equivalent).

• Strategic mindset with excellent analytical skills to evaluate processes, identify issues, and propose/implement solutions that effectively support business strategies.

• Ability to communicate and negotiate with external parties (partners, providers, lawyers, public institutions, etc.).

• Proactive attitude and capability to achieve business objectives while mitigating risks.

• Proficiency in both English and Spanish.

• **Valuable knowledge:**

• Familiarity with GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) frameworks.

• Understanding of the EU AI Act and its implications for tech product compliance.

• Knowledge of international laws and regulations related to corporate matters (e.g., US/China).

• Ability to communicate effectively with non-legal stakeholders, such as those in marketing, product, or IT.

• Experience with document management in cloud-based environments (Google Drive).
