This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Establish the Legal Function
• Create the company's inaugural in-house legal department
• Develop and implement legal processes and standards
• Set up the Legal function both operationally and strategically
• Build a modern, efficient, and business-oriented legal department from the ground up
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, MSAs, DPAs, vendor agreements, partnership agreements, procurement contracts, and licensing matters
• Assist Sales, Customer Success, and Procurement teams during customer and supplier negotiations
• Provide pragmatic, solution-oriented legal advice to internal stakeholders on legal and commercial risks
• Support product and engineering teams with legal inquiries related to SaaS products, AI features, data usage, and platform functionality
• Enhance and maintain the company’s privacy and compliance framework
• Manage and refine legal and privacy processes, templates, and internal guidelines
• Coordinate with external counsel as necessary
• Collaborate closely with the DPO and provide guidance on GDPR, international data transfers, and overall compliance
• Aid in the establishment of scalable governance structures that align with company growth
• Stay informed about legal and regulatory developments in IT and technology, Payments, and Financial services
• Act as a trusted legal advisor for management and cross-functional teams
• Assist with corporate housekeeping and group structure matters
• Support strategic projects, international expansion, and potential M&A activities
• Create and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and approval workflows
• Enhance contract lifecycle and documentation processes
• Assess and implement legal technology and AI-supported legal tools where applicable
• Promote simplification, standardization, and operational efficiency across legal processes
• Manage external law firms and advisors
• Oversee legal expenditures and cost efficiency
• Provide employment law advisory services
• Handle individual and collective labor law matters
• Fully qualified lawyer or equivalent legal qualification in an EU jurisdiction
• Several years of relevant experience in-house or at a law firm with exposure to technology, SaaS, or commercial law
• Strong background in commercial contracting and technology-related legal issues
• Comprehensive understanding of data protection and privacy laws, particularly GDPR
• Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
• Pragmatic, business-focused, and solution-oriented approach
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
• Experience collaborating closely with international and cross-functional teams
• Interest in legal operations, automation, and scalable legal processes
• Nice to Have: Experience in high-growth SaaS or scale-up environments, Familiarity with AI-related legal issues, Experience supporting international expansion, Exposure to M&A or corporate governance topics
