Associate General Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Evaluate laws and regulations in India related to AI to assess their effects on OpenAI and the wider AI community.

• Formulate policy positions regarding emerging legislation, pending proposals, and international standards.

• Collaborate with the Global Affairs team on regulatory strategies and outreach efforts.

• Oversee compliance with Indian regulatory requirements.

• Work alongside Product Legal teams to facilitate the availability, growth, and responsible deployment of OpenAI’s offerings in India.

• Aid in enhancing our AI governance as new regulations are implemented.

• Track and keep the broader legal team informed about new legislative and regulatory trends concerning AI in the APAC region.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in legal and/or policy roles.

• Proven leadership capabilities and the ability to influence others.

• A blend of experience from an in-house company, government/institution, or law firm.

• A strong foundation in technology law.

• Familiarity with AI or a demonstrated interest in AI-related laws and regulations.

• Ability to create clear and concise written and verbal communications, simplifying complex concepts into understandable and persuasive ideas.

• Experience in analyzing intricate legislation.

• History of engaging with regulators and/or policymakers.
