Senior Lead Full-Stack Engineer – Java, Spring Boot, React

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of backend development experience with Java in production settings.

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Strong practical experience with Spring and Spring Boot.

• Comprehensive understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.

• Familiarity with React or Angular frameworks.

• Regular use of AI coding assistants such as OpenCode, Ollama, Qwen3, Claude Code, or similar tools.

• Comfortable leveraging AI tools for code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, documentation, and troubleshooting.

• A pragmatic and critical perspective on AI tools.

• Previous experience in team leadership, including mentoring or guiding engineers.

• A genuine passion for software architecture.

• A proactive attitude towards technical decisions, code quality, and engineering best practices.

• Strong enthusiasm for learning and adopting new technologies.

• Independent and proactive work style.

• Strong critical-thinking abilities.

• Preferred experience with cloud platforms, especially GCP; AWS or Azure experience is also advantageous.

• Experience in a software house or startup product environment.

• Contributions to architectural design at the team or system level, including ADRs or technical specifications.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices within a backend context.

• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript in addition to backend development.
