Senior Java Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design and implement high-performance microservices using Java / Spring Boot

• Develop and sustain event-driven integrations with Apache Kafka

• Take ownership of the data layer, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations (PostgreSQL)

• Operate within a containerized cloud-native environment: Docker, Kubernetes, GCP

• Uphold high standards of code quality through reviews, testing standards, and CI/CD practices

• Mentor team members and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement

• Assume full responsibility for features from inception to production and beyond

• Produce clear technical documentation, including System Design documents, RFCs, and ADRs

• Proactively identify and mitigate technical debt before it escalates into issues

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in Java development (Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA/Hibernate)

• Extensive experience with distributed systems, including microservices, event-driven architectures, and inter-service communication

• In-depth knowledge of JVM internals: memory model, garbage collection tuning, concurrency, and performance profiling

• Proficiency in Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, consumer groups, offset management, and error handling

• Strong skills in PostgreSQL, covering relational modeling, indexing strategies, query plans, and schema migrations

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders and create engaging design documents

• Proficient in English (B2+) for team and stakeholder communication

• Skilled in utilizing AI tools and large language models (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to boost productivity and tackle complex challenges.
