This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Design and sustain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend APIs and services for software applications.
• Tackle intricate issues by applying sustainable engineering practices, ensuring the code is clean, testable, and maintainable.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to make technical and product-related decisions.
• Create, develop, and enhance backend services (REST APIs) while prioritizing availability, performance, and security.
• Engage in architectural discussions and influence technical decisions, including event-driven, hexagonal, and domain-driven designs.
• Enforce and uphold security protocols such as OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, mTLS, and JWT.
• Conduct code reviews to maintain coding standards, testing, and documentation practices (OpenAPI/Swagger).
• Analyze and enhance performance through profiling, query optimization, caching, and concurrency management.
• Establish observability with structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing, while also addressing incidents as they arise.
• Partner with Product, QA, SRE/Cloud, and Support teams to identify potential risks and suggest mitigation strategies.
• Serve as a technical mentor to less experienced developers, fostering best practices throughout the team.
• Strong backend development experience, particularly with Java (preferably version 17 or higher).
• Proficiency in OOP and adherence to SOLID principles.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot and hexagonal architecture.
• Understanding of event-driven architectures (e.g., SNS/SQS and domain events).
• Experience with RESTful APIs and OpenAPI (Swagger) documentation.
• Proficient with Maven (or Gradle) for building and managing dependencies.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as SNS, SQS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, ECR, and DocumentDB/MongoDB.
• Knowledge of Docker/docker-compose and basic Kubernetes, including manifests, deployments, services, and troubleshooting with kubectl.
• Understanding of observability concepts, including logs, metrics, and tracing.
• Proficient in both relational and non-relational databases, with strong data modeling and query skills.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and agile methodologies, including branching, pipelines, PRs, and feature flags.
• Knowledge of application security principles such as OWASP (ASVS/Top 10), JWT/JWS, mTLS, and best practices for managing secrets.
• Experience in high-availability, critical environments.
• Background with Identity & Access Management (Keycloak or similar) and implementing OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect in production settings.
