This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Act as the primary subject matter expert for the applications and technology utilized by the Information Technology team.
• Partner with business analysts, architects, vendor partners, Product Owners, and IT teams to deliver sophisticated applications and services.
• Uphold the application and service architecture vision, ensuring application integrity and security are maintained.
• Lead code and design reviews, assess results, and suggest strategies for quality delivery.
• Assist in application development, API tooling, system design, and secure database access for RDBMS or NoSQL systems.
• Evaluate architectural designs and requirements, providing essential technical feedback.
• Serve as a functional subject matter expert, advocating for and supporting software applications.
• Recognize technical risks and develop contingency plans accordingly.
• Analyze operations to assess and recommend improvement options.
• Conduct security audits and assist teams in navigating technical challenges.
• Ensure governance, quality assurance, standards, and compliance with technology architecture.
• Spearhead technology changes and oversee or advise on technology implementation and modification efforts.
• Create production-ready IT services for agile teams and supervise proofs of concept for emerging technologies.
• Generate detailed designs, review developer implementations, and ensure adherence to quality practices, including automated unit, integration, and continuous integration tests.
• Develop, review, and sanction technical documentation.
• Lead the formulation of technology strategy and roadmap for the specialized area.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors to assess technical aspects, evaluate feasibility, and create reporting metrics, dashboards, and status reports.
• Manage operational processes, including crisis management, support escalation, change management, release management, capacity management, and other ITIL processes.
• Analyze, plan, justify, schedule, and coordinate administrative, operational, and financial initiatives within the specialty area, including TCO, optimization, and efficiency.
• Evaluate development metrics and KPIs, conduct root cause analysis for production defects, and minimize defect leakage.
• Take ownership of delivered product quality and automate wherever feasible with thoroughly documented code development.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science, or a comparable 7–10 years of relevant experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering, or at least 12–15 years of experience without a bachelor’s degree.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 12–15+ years without a bachelor’s degree in the software development life cycle.
• Proficiency in at least one technology stack for designing, developing, testing, and/or delivering complex software, such as Java, .NET, iOS, Android, or Python.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to lead code and design reviews, as well as daily or weekly meetings.
• Capacity to facilitate swift and effective technology resolutions for team members.
• Skill in collaborating with Architects and Managers to create metrics and KPIs.
• Proficient in analyzing data and generating comprehensive reports focused on development metrics and KPIs.
• Competence in identifying technical risks and developing contingency plans.
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis for production defects and reduce defect leakage into production.
• Responsibility for product quality and automation wherever possible through well-documented code development.
• Familiarity with coding standards, static code analysis, quality gates, and software quality enforcement tools and techniques.
• Understanding of information principles and processes.
• Awareness of the financial implications of design decisions.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies, including waterfall, spiral, agile, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot multi-tier applications, including SaaS and on-premises systems.
• Solid grasp of design patterns.
• Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and enhance application performance.
• Adaptability to new technologies and a forward-thinking approach to future innovations.
• Capability to estimate the financial impact of various technology alternatives.
• Quick comprehension of existing, new, and emerging technologies.
