Senior IT Strategy Consultant – vCTO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee 6–8 simultaneous vCTO/vCIO client engagements.

• Perform technology evaluations and formulate multi-year strategies and roadmaps.

• Deliver strategic insights to boards and executive teams.

• Counsel clients on the effective use of AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Anthropic Claude) to enhance productivity and decision-making.

• Spearhead digital transformation projects, including cloud migration and application modernization.

• Create technology operating models, governance frameworks, budgets, and business proposals.

• Assist in vendor strategy, contract negotiations, and technology risk management.

• Contribute to the development of consulting methodologies and support business development efforts.

• Cultivate strong, trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior technology leadership experience (CTO, CIO, Head of Technology, etc.).

• A demonstrated history of delivering significant transformation programs (£500k–£5m+).

• Strong proficiency in technology strategy, enterprise architecture, and roadmap formulation.

• Familiarity with contemporary AI tools and the capability to guide clients on responsible and effective use cases.

• Comprehensive knowledge of cloud and hybrid environments, especially Microsoft Azure.

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills suitable for board-level interactions.

• Experience in consulting, fractional CxO roles, or interim leadership is preferred.

• Solid commercial and financial understanding, including ROI modeling.

• Valid UK driving license and readiness to travel.

• Certifications such as TOGAF, ITIL, Azure Architect, PMP/PRINCE2, or Agile.

• Training related to AI or data.

• Experience in regulated industries or M&A environments.

• Background in software engineering, DevOps, or enterprise applications.
