Senior Internal Tooling Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Create and deploy internal tools, automations, and platforms that alleviate bottlenecks throughout Yazio, taking ownership of the entire stack from web applications to distributed, asynchronous job processing systems.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing, localization, and user success, to identify their most significant bottlenecks and deliver customized solutions that reduce manual efforts.

• Develop and enhance our AI-driven systems, such as the Creative Automation System (which automates creative uploads and ad creation) and the Content Generation System (production-grade AI translations), incorporating the latest AI technologies, large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agents into our production environment.

• Utilize cutting-edge AI in your workflow, employing agentic coding and AI assistants to accelerate development while upholding a high standard for quality and safety.

• Make critical technical decisions and design resilient, distributed, and maintainable architectures, ensuring the reliability of our automations through effective queuing and asynchronous processing.

• Take complete ownership of your projects from initial scoping and stakeholder alignment to delivery, measurement, and iteration, proactively identifying and resolving potential roadblocks.

• Elevate the team's performance, mentoring colleagues in software design and process automation, providing clear documentation, and influencing how Yazio integrates new AI technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building modern web applications from start to finish, preferably with Go and HTMX (and Python), and capability in managing distributed, asynchronous systems (including queuing and background processing).

• A strong hands-on understanding of AI technologies—LLMs, RAG (like pgvector), prompt engineering, model routing (such as OpenRouter), and frameworks such as LangChain—along with a history of delivering AI-driven features in production.

• A transformational approach to AI-based workflows, emphasizing agentic coding: leveraging AI to enhance productivity while maintaining high software quality standards.

• Proven track record of end-to-end ownership: effectively organizing delivery from scoping to launch, anticipating downstream impacts, and taking initiative without needing explicit permission.

• Practical mindset: developing the smallest valuable component first, prioritizing ruthlessly, and continuously improving code quality even while working swiftly.

• A genuine product-engineer mindset: passionate about user experience and understanding the rationale behind your builds, comfortable with product metrics, and motivated to create a measurable impact.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex technical subjects to both technical and non-technical partners, and documenting effectively in writing.
