This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Full responsibility for the integration service lifecycle, encompassing reliability, roadmap execution, and a long-term technical vision.
• Design and maintain an asynchronous Python-based service that connects with client systems (ACS, VMS, and alarms) using REST, MQTT, and SignalR.
• Enhance integration capabilities by developing new connectors and webhook handlers tailored for large-scale enterprise event ingestion.
• Create outbound layers to orchestrate automated responses, such as lockdown procedures and security escalations, within customer ecosystems.
• Oversee system health through alerting and retry logic to guarantee resilient performance and graceful degradation of dependencies.
• Build test harnesses and mock environments to troubleshoot complex issues across third-party APIs and legacy on-premise hardware.
• Collaborate with Sales Engineering and internal teams to define technical requirements and facilitate new integrations.
• Serve as the main technical responder for integration-specific incidents, conducting thorough debugging across vendor platforms.
• Direct strategic migrations to Kubernetes and pinpoint opportunities for incorporating new communication and notification technologies.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, with substantial involvement in integrations, platform development, or API work.
• Strong expertise in Python, particularly in async programming (asyncio, aiohttp, or similar).
• Practical experience with third-party APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures from various vendors.
• Proven ability to build resilient integration pipelines, including implementing retry logic, backoff strategies, health monitoring, and graceful degradation.
• Systematic debugging abilities, tracing issues across your platform, third-party APIs, and customer on-premise hardware, with ease working through inconsistent vendor documentation, legacy protocols, and customer-specific configurations.
• A demonstrated history of taking ownership of a service or system and enhancing its reliability over time.
• Proficiency in instrumenting and operating services with metrics and tracing tools (Datadog or equivalent).
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployment solutions, such as ECS.
