Senior Integrated Absence Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Establish and oversee Leave of Absence, Voluntary Disability, Paid Family Leave, Short Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability claims.

• Manage, monitor, and assess eligibility for job-protected leaves, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and PLOA.

• Provide guidance to clients and staff regarding leave requirements, regulations, company benefits, and internal leave policies.

• Administer disability and paid family leave claims in accordance with established procedures.

• Coordinate coverage and administration of insured programs with carriers.

• Foster relationships with clients and their employees to achieve customer service objectives.

• Maintain and oversee check-cycle payments and associated procedures.

• Coordinate return-to-work initiatives with claimants, providers, and clients.

• Respond to telephone claims inquiries from claimants, clients, and carriers within 24 hours.

• Deliver exceptional customer service.

• Mentor and train staff, acting as a technical resource.

• Provide backup or assist the supervisor with administrative responsibilities.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement).

• 5+ years of prior experience in Leave of Absence and/or related disability roles.

• At least one year of experience in an administrative office setting (preferred).

• Ability to work effectively with minimal active supervision.

• Highly organized, with the capacity to document files accurately.

• Comprehensive understanding of federal and statutory regulations pertaining to FMLA, CFRA, and PDL.

• Capability to integrate leave programs with VDI, STD, and VDI benefits.

• Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and web-based platforms.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with employees, supervisors, and external providers.

• Ability to educate and counsel on sensitive and complex matters.

• Planning and organizational skills to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

• Proficient in solving practical issues and interpreting written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.

• Knowledge of disability plan documents, SOC, and ERISA guidelines.

• CPDM certification is preferred.

• General understanding of benefit taxability.

• Commitment to following attendance policies, maintaining a consistent work schedule, and punctuality.

• Capacity to perform sedentary work and utilize standard office equipment.
