Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Legacy Operations, Cloud Modernization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the production incident management lifecycle, assess alerts, troubleshoot operating system-level bottlenecks, debug performance issues, and conduct root-cause analysis.

• Oversee system performance, application logs, and resource health by utilizing observability platforms like Observe by Snowflake.

• Manage, update, and secure current GCP virtual machines.

• Supervise MySQL 5.7 instances, handle backups, and resolve connection pool exhaustion or locking issues.

• Collaborate on the design, provisioning, and scaling of cloud infrastructure for new products and services using Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and other cloud-native tools.

• Automate manual operational tasks with scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards through operating system hardening, access control measures, and vulnerability patching.

• Maintain the stability, security, and high availability of production VMs that run Java/Tomcat applications and MySQL instances.

• Contribute to shaping the architecture and strategy for future-oriented products and services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in System Administration, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Operations within an enterprise setting.

• Profound expertise in Linux administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and storage and file system management, particularly ZFS.

• Experience in running, tuning, and debugging Java/Tomcat applications in a production environment.

• Strong working knowledge of MySQL 5.7, including query tuning, replication, backup/restore strategies, and troubleshooting migrations.

• Proficient in shell scripting and Bash automation.

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery.

• Production experience in architecting and managing containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Proficient in Terraform and contemporary CI/CD deployment workflows.

• Ability to remain calm under pressure with a methodical, safety-oriented approach to incident response.

• Pragmatic problem-solving skills suited for legacy software environments.

• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration during migrations or outages.
