This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +24 more states.
• Design intricate physical and cloud-based data center infrastructures across network, compute, storage, platform, middleware, database, and telephony sectors.
• Evaluate both current and prospective requirements while determining the technical and economic viability of infrastructure designs.
• Establish and uphold technical standards, procedures, documentation, guidelines, work processes, and schedules.
• Gather and assess operational data while directing proof-of-technology initiatives for new or modified designs.
• Strategize and develop engineering designs that support network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions.
• Take ownership of technology currency and capacity planning to meet established SLAs.
• Set performance standards for hardware and software.
• Offer subject matter expertise on emerging technologies in collaboration with strategic technology vendors.
• Engage in software and hardware licensing, financial, and capacity planning activities.
• Consult with IT, business units, vendors, project teams, management, and service partners.
• Implement detailed infrastructure designs for large-scale internal projects.
• Ensure operational readiness through performance and tuning analysis, systems support, incident and problem resolution, software installation, and upgrades.
• Lead production incident resolution as necessary.
• Maintain technical roadmaps and contribute to architecture strategies and standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to verify that delivered infrastructure aligns with the architecture or design.
• Present overviews of new technologies to IT and Enterprise leadership.
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
• A Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree (if required), or 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
• Proficiency in managing AWS cloud environments and enterprise Linux systems, including RHEL 9 and AIX.
• Practical experience with Ansible and Ansible Tower for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
• Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite for system lifecycle management, patching, and compliance tasks.
• Knowledge of patch management and vulnerability remediation procedures in extensive enterprise environments.
• Understanding of security best practices and vulnerability management techniques.
