This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate mechanical and HVAC design documents, calculations, and submittals for thoroughness, feasibility, and compliance with Government standards.
• Offer written feedback and suggested solutions.
• Assist in facility condition assessments by reviewing mechanical systems documentation, pinpointing deficiencies, and proposing corrective measures.
• Conduct technical research and analysis concerning HVAC performance, ventilation, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality.
• Create and/or assess equipment schedules, sequences of operations narratives, and engineering options analyses.
• Prepare technical contributions for Statements of Work, performance specifications, acceptance criteria, and evaluation factors.
• Collaborate with architectural and other engineering disciplines to identify integration and interface challenges.
• Aid in the review of commissioning and closeout documentation, including verification checklists and deficiency tracking.
• Develop technical presentations, decision-support matrices, and executive summaries for Government stakeholders.
• Provide advisory mechanical engineering assistance to DOJ/BOP facilities stakeholders without approving designs, certifying compliance, or exercising Government authority.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field (or equivalent relevant experience).
• At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in mechanical and HVAC engineering.
• Familiarity with relevant mechanical codes and standards, including ASHRAE and IMC.
• Capability to produce clear technical documentation, comment matrices, and decision-support analyses.
• Proficiency in commonly used tools, including MS Office.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOJ/BOP suitability, background investigation, and facility access as necessary.
• Experience with energy modeling or commissioning workflows is advantageous.
• Background in Federal facilities projects is highly preferred.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. jurisdiction is preferred.
• Experience with secure, correctional, or justice-sector facilities is preferred.
• Experience in supporting design reviews, commissioning, or facilities O&M transition activities is preferred.
