Senior Information Security Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +7 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee, monitor, and sustain the information security systems and controls of the Credit Union.

• Safeguard electronic data and infrastructure against both internal and external threats.

• Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security, and privacy.

• Administer and configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, SIEM, VPN, DLP, and other security mechanisms.

• Review logs, alerts, and system activities to identify anomalies and possible attacks.

• Track security incidents, escalate as necessary, and engage in containment and remediation efforts.

• Plan, document, and evaluate security configuration changes prior to implementation.

• Perform security assessments, audits, and risk evaluations.

• Work collaboratively with IT, business units, security vendors, and project stakeholders.

• Generate written and oral progress reports.

• Maintain documentation, standards, policies, and security controls.

• Conduct vulnerability assessments, patch management, malware/rootkit defense, log reviews, access audits, and secure traffic management.

• Manage secure vendor connections.

• Ensure optimal performance and configuration of security infrastructure.

• Keep an inventory of security hardware/software and assist with lifecycle management, budgeting, and compliance with licensing.

• Support security hardening, disaster recovery/business continuity exercises, system recovery testing, and resilience enhancements.

• Participate in on-call rotations or respond to security events after hours as necessary.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in information security, network security, or systems administration.

• Practical experience in managing firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, VPN, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management.

• Strong grasp of network security and protocols, traffic capturing, and protocol analysis.

• Hands-on experience with the implementation, configuration, and management of enterprise security infrastructure.

• Familiarity with enterprise-class firewalls and IDS.

• Understanding of information security governance.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Capability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience is preferred.

• Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal certifications.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.

• Preferred: 3 years of experience as a security administrator with exposure to financial services, banking, or credit union environments.

• Preferred experience in administering Fortigate firewalls, Darktrace, Arctic Wolf SIEM, Appgate VPN, Sophos, and Fortra DLP.

• Preferred background with cloud or hybrid infrastructures, including Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Experience with cloud security and virtualization technologies is preferred.

• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux operating systems is preferred.

• Information Security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or MCSE are preferred.
