This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Promote Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture across all operations by utilizing continuous improvement techniques in both new and existing processes.

• Recognize and implement operational changes through data-driven continuous improvement, engineering, and automation initiatives.

• Gather data, conduct statistical analyses, and document and map processes effectively.

• Identify gaps in processes; propose and execute process enhancements.

• Create and oversee timely continuous improvement and transformation plans.

• Enhance metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.

• Oversee and finalize continuous improvement and steady-state engineering projects.

• Evaluate continuous improvement initiatives and suggest future activities.

• Assist with go-live and steady-state certification processes.

• Identify and support automation initiatives.

• Engage regularly with operations management and clients.

• Develop expertise in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards; mentor employees on Continuous Improvement, Quality Assurance, and Lean principles.

• Utilize product slotting, labor standards/time studies, layouts, flow optimization, data profiling/analysis, and resource modeling to enhance distribution and transportation operations.

• Facilitate and implement Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events through chartering, pre-work, execution, follow-up, and sustainment.

• Mentor process owners in Lean methodologies and operational excellence.

• Report data and actions in alignment with site objectives.

• Provide recommendations regarding inventory and/or supply chain strategies.

• Design, implement, monitor, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).

• Establish and oversee a standardized corrective action system.

• Assist in regulatory compliance and certification obligations.

• Conduct Quality Assurance activities for new starts or expansions.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Report to the Lead Engineer, Continuous Improvement Manager, or Senior Continuous Improvement Manager while closely aligning with Operations Management.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing; or a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management with three (3) years of relevant experience; if holding an MBA, an undergraduate degree in Engineering is required.

• At least five years of relevant work experience in the Warehousing & Transportation and/or Manufacturing sectors.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio — Expert level.

• Experience in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and database programming (SQL, DAX, etc.) — Intermediate level preferred.

• Practical experience in developing and managing Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, Management Accountability Systems, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and 5S/Workplace Organization — Beginner level required.

• Understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions, including slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, and metrics — Intermediate level required.

• Familiarity with warehouse design tools like CAD/AutoCAD, slotting tools such as Slot3D, Predetermined Motion and Time Systems such as MOST, Warehouse Management Systems like Manhattan Scale, and Labor Management Systems — Intermediate level preferred.

• Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Industrial Engineering, types of warehouses, warehouse layout/design, Lean methodologies, material handling solutions, and various types of automation — Intermediate level preferred.

• Understanding of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks, types of equipment, transportation design tools, network design tools, transportation management systems, and mapping software — Intermediate level preferred.

• Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS certifications — Preferred.

• Certification from the American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) and/or in Supply Chain Logistics — Preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills — Required.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities — Required.

• Capability to build and maintain professional relationships across all organizational levels — Required.

• Adaptability and self-direction in a fast-paced environment — Required.

• Ability to multitask, remain organized, and manage time efficiently — Required.

• Skills in system and change implementation — Required.

• Capacity to work independently as well as a leader or team member — Required.

• Proficiency in managing cross-functional Continuous Improvement projects from inception to sustained results — Required.
