This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Execute intricate and non-standard engineering tasks that encompass design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, specifications, field operations, resolution of field issues, and quality-related challenges.
• Conduct independent reviews of departmental deliverables, risk assessments, Apparent Cause Analyses, and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses.
• Recommend solutions and work scopes to the Supervisor, while performing most assignments autonomously.
• Ensure adherence to government regulations, as well as organizational, industry, and customer engineering standards.
• Assess, select, and implement technical methods, procedures, and criteria for complex adaptations and modifications.
• Create new or modified products, methods, systems, or models that deliver value-added solutions to customers.
• Evaluate the impact of work on both internal and external organizations.
• Engage in special projects as assigned.
• Propose and apply process enhancements.
• Participate in technical discussions with internal clients.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering teams on significant projects that support the licensing of fuel products in commercial nuclear reactors.
• Develop and implement project plans.
• Gather status updates from various Engineering disciplines and relay updates to management.
• Facilitate solutions for technical challenges related to Neutronics, Safety Analysis, Thermal-Hydraulics, or Fuel Rod Analyses.
• Provide or assist in communications with customers or regulatory bodies.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology, and Engineering Science may also be acceptable based on the position.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• In-depth knowledge of pertinent engineering standards, techniques, and criteria.
• Strong communication skills to understand and convey detailed technical information.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively within a team setting.
• Advanced skills in identifying and resolving problems.
• Demonstrates leadership qualities.
• Exhibits a questioning mindset and engages in self-assessment.
• Advanced proficiency in specialized software tools and programming languages relevant to the role.
• Understanding of safety analyses that support the licensing basis for commercial nuclear power plants.
• Experience in leading or managing a technical project involving multiple teams or disciplines.
• Knowledge of Pressurized Water Reactor systems and their functions.
• Experience in communicating technical topics to various stakeholders.
