Senior Hardware Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineering, project management, testing, and operations teams within small, multidisciplinary groups.

• Design and develop 3U and 6U VPX Single Board Computers (SBC), Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), switches, and I/O cards for high-speed data processing applications.

• Create custom form-factor systems that incorporate cards, power supplies, and thermal management components, utilizing Liquid-Flow-Through techniques.

• Transform system requirements into practical hardware designs.

• Contribute to design choices regarding performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.

• Conduct hardware design analysis, troubleshooting, and technical evaluations throughout the development lifecycle.

• Assist in hardware verification, qualification, and production activities.

• Develop and implement test plans while resolving technical issues.

• Apply engineering best practices to enhance product performance, reliability, and time-to-market.

• Create and maintain technical procedures, design documentation, and engineering manuals.

• Offer technical guidance and support to junior engineers.

• Participate in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

• At least 5 years of experience in DoD embedded systems and hardware design.

• Proven experience in developing SBC, FPGA, switches, and I/O cards.

• Experience in designing mixed-signal, high-speed digital, analog, and low-power, high-current circuits in high-reliability environments.

• Familiarity with high-density interconnect PCB designs, including multi-layer boards, blind/buried vias, and uVia structures is preferred.

• Experience with Siemens Expedition DX Designer (SCH) and Siemens Expedition PCB tools is preferred.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and deliver results in a schedule-driven engineering environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills that support complex hardware development efforts.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

• US Citizenship is required.

• An active DoD security clearance is preferred.

• The position may involve exposure to export-controlled information and may require additional security screening.
