Lead Hardware Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.

📋 Description

• Facilitate collaboration among engineering, project management, testing, and operations teams within small, highly integrated, multidisciplinary groups.

• Oversee the design and development of 3U and 6U VPX SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards tailored for high-speed data processing applications.

• Direct the design and development of custom form-factor systems that integrate SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards, power supplies, and thermal management components, including Liquid-Flow-Through techniques.

• Convert customer requirements into system architectures, functional designs, and hardware solutions.

• Assess technical feasibility and propose methods that balance performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.

• Serve as the technical lead for hardware development, project execution, design reviews, and key technical decisions.

• Guide hardware testing, qualification, and troubleshooting processes.

• Establish and promote engineering best practices.

• Create, review, and maintain technical procedures, design documentation, and engineering manuals.

• Mentor engineers while providing technical guidance.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• At least 8 years of experience in DoD embedded systems and hardware design is necessary.

• Proven experience with the development of SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards.

• Experience in designing mixed-signal, high-speed digital, analog, and low-power, high-current circuits in high-reliability settings.

• Background in designing high-density interconnect (HDI) PCBs, including complex multi-layer designs, multi-lamination processes, blind/buried vias, and uVia structures.

• Practical experience with Siemens Expedition DX Designer (SCH) and Siemens Expedition PCB tools.

• Capability to lead technical initiatives, prioritize competing tasks, drive execution, and achieve results in high-pressure, schedule-driven environments.

• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and guiding intricate hardware designs from concept to production.

• Strong comprehension of hardware architecture, design trade-offs, verification, qualification, and production support.

• Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with engineering teams, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

• US Citizenship is required.

• An active DoD security clearance is preferred.
