Principal Hardware Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineering, project management, testing, and operations teams within small, highly integrated, multidisciplinary groups to fulfill demanding, schedule-driven customer needs.

• Oversee the design and development of 3U and 6U VPX SBC, FPGA, switches, and I/O cards.

• Direct the design and creation of custom form-factor systems that include SBC, FPGA, switches, I/O cards, power supplies, and thermal management components, including Liquid-Flow-Through methods.

• Assist business development, program managers, and customer teams in converting requirements into viable system and functional designs.

• Evaluate the technical and economic viability of new designs while acting as a team/project leader.

• Provide technical guidance, implement best practices, and enhance product performance, reliability, and time-to-market.

• Lead and perform tests to set standards for new or modified equipment, systems, or processes.

• Create and maintain technical procedures, documentation, and manuals.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• At least 15 years of experience in DoD embedded systems and hardware design.

• Significant experience in designing mixed-signal, high-speed digital, analog, and low-power, high-current circuits in high-reliability settings.

• Expertise in designing high-density interconnect PCBs with 26+ layers, multilamination, blind/buried vias, and uVia structures.

• Practical experience with Siemens Expedition DX Designer (SCH) and Siemens Expedition PCB tools.

• Capability to prioritize tasks, drive results, and thrive in high-pressure, schedule-driven environments.

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, capable of architecting and executing complex designs with schedule-oriented teams.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

• US Citizenship is required.

• An active DoD security clearance is preferred.

• The position may require exposure to export-controlled information and additional security screening.
