This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and enhance firmware for embedded systems.

• Work collaboratively with hardware teams to create firmware solutions for wireless embedded designs.

• Implement firmware control for RF modules, sensors, as well as communication interfaces including Bluetooth, LoRa, satellite, or LTE.

• Debug, test, and refine firmware within rugged and mission-critical environments.

• Participate in field testing and provide updates to firmware as necessary.

• Integrate hardware, software, and DevSecOps solutions alongside cross-functional teams.

• Maintain control over firmware revisions and project versioning.

• Ensure that firmware adheres to MIL-STD, FIPS, and FCC security protocols and certifications.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in firmware or electrical design for embedded systems.

• Preferably experienced in IoT, RF devices, or mission-critical environments.

• Strong knowledge in processor-level development.

• Capability to understand and develop using proprietary RTOS.

• Experience in embedded Linux development, including device drivers and TCP/IP networking.

• Proficient in developing very-low-power battery-operated applications.

• Hands-on experience with Bluetooth, LoRa, LTE, or similar communication protocols.

• Experience with firmware debugging, testing, and validation in hardware environments.

• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M or STM microcontrollers and their architectures.

• Experience with Keil, IAR, or Segger IDEs and debugging tools.

• Knowledge of SPI, I2C, and UART hardware interfaces.

• Understanding of DFM and DFT principles related to firmware-hardware integration.

• Experience in developing firmware with a unit-test approach.

• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• Hands-on experience with FIPS 140-2 and/or FIPS 140-3 firmware is a plus.

• Familiarity with ruggedized defense, logistics, or industrial IoT devices is a plus.

• Knowledge of secure firmware delivery and update tools is a plus.

• Understanding of wireless and cellular IoT firmware systems and power optimization is a plus.

• Ability to work in early-stage product development environments or spin-out business units is a plus.
