This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct planning and analysis for transmission systems, encompassing load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transient studies.
• Assist in utility planning and advisory projects for ISO/RTOs and electric utilities.
• Prepare applications for new generator interconnections.
• Create conceptual single line diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with reactive power requirements.
• Develop models for steady-state, dynamic, and short circuit analyses related to interconnection applications.
• Review ISO feasibility studies and system impact assessments.
• Offer guidance to ISO Interconnection Customers.
• Lead teams in resolving engineering challenges by leveraging data, automation, and AI.
• Manage automation and process improvement initiatives, which include calculation automation, summarization of technical documents, and generation of design documentation.
• Provide direction on the appropriate use of AI or agentic AI tools while ensuring that results are validated.
• Supervise engineers involved in programming or scripting to automate engineering tasks and evaluate automated outputs.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Relevant industry experience may be accepted as a substitute for an advanced degree.
• At least 5 years of pertinent power systems engineering experience in a utility or consulting environment.
• Proficiency in load flow and contingency analysis to identify thermal and voltage constraints in transmission and assess transfer capability limits.
• Experience with transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using tools like PSS/E, PSLF, or TARA.
• No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is available.
• Experience in stability analysis, electromagnetic transient analysis with PSCAD, short circuit analysis using CAPE or ASPEN, and familiarity with PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE, along with programming skills in Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages is valued but not mandatory.
• A willingness or capacity to lead others in utilizing automation and AI tools within engineering workflows.
• Additional education in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related disciplines is appreciated but not essential.
• Supervision of engineers programming or scripting using Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required.
