Senior Grid Infrastructure Commissioning Engineer, BESS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical outputs for the design, construction, and commissioning of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

• Oversee the commissioning of high-voltage substations, switchyards, and transmission systems.

• Provide support for negotiating and executing interconnection agreements (LGIA).

• Prepare RFQ/RFP documentation for EPC contractors and engineering consultants.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with the Transmission, Interconnection, Procurement, and Development teams.

• Maintain an on-site presence at various project locations nationwide, requiring approximately 30% travel.

• Engage with stakeholders in discussions related to ERCOT, MISO, SPP, and PJM queue reforms and large load policy matters.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a preference for Power Engineering.

• 5-7+ years of experience in project engineering, EPC, construction management, or commissioning within the power sector.

• Practical experience with high-voltage utility substations, switchyards, and transmission systems.

• Strong comprehension of battery energy storage principles and their associated value proposition.

• Knowledge of ISO/RTO commissioning compliance and the structures of LGIA/PPA.

• Competence in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, and SharePoint.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30% to project sites.

• Familiarity with AI-driven tools for enhancing engineering productivity.

• A pragmatic, data-oriented approach suitable for navigating ambiguous and rapidly changing market conditions.
