Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee significant customer technical initiatives by delivering production-grade systems, designing and building reference architectures, custom applications, and integrating data ingestion and ML/AI models.

• Assist strategic customers in executing transformational big data projects, encompassing the full design, build, and deployment of industry-leading big data and AI applications. Collaborate with engagement managers to define the scope of technical delivery work, incorporating customer insights.

• Advise customers on architecture and design; bootstrap or implement projects that enhance their understanding, evaluation, and adoption of Databricks.

• Direct architecture and design choices, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with both customer requirements and Databricks best practices.

• Collaborate with the Databricks technical team, Project Manager, Architect, and Customer team to guarantee that the technical elements of the engagement are delivered in accordance with customer needs.

• Partner with Engineering and Databricks Customer Support to offer product and implementation feedback and to facilitate quick resolutions for engagement-specific product and support issues.

• Integrate with customer teams, interacting with stakeholders ranging from technical individual contributors to executives to thoroughly understand challenges and deliver impactful solutions.

• Contribute to accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that enhance impact across accounts and influence the Databricks product roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.

• Proficient in coding with Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.

• Familiar with two or more common Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP), with expertise in at least one.

• Extensive experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark™ and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.

• Understanding of CI/CD practices for production deployments.

• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs.

• Design and deployment experience of high-performance production end-to-end data architectures and applications that integrate data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.

• Proven experience in technical project delivery, managing scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes, while translating complex concepts into actionable solutions.

• Strong documentation and white-boarding abilities.

• Experience collaborating with enterprise clients and navigating conflicts among a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Willingness to build skills in technical areas, demonstrating curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore new technologies that facilitate the deployment and integration of Databricks-based solutions to complete customer projects.

• Availability to travel to customers 20% of the time.
